Mississippi State Senate Election 2027
Hello, my name is Dianne D. Black.
I am a lifelong resident of Mississippi and proudly made history as the first woman and the first Black woman to win a major party primary for Congress in Mississippi’s 1st Congressional District. I secured the Democratic nomination in both 2022 and 2024 to challenge incumbent Republican Congressman Trent Kelly.
I am a widow, a proud mother of five incredible adult children, blessed with three daughters-in-law and three beautiful grandchildren. For more than four decades, I have served DeSoto County as an entrepreneur and community leader.
I am a member of the Olive Branch Chamber of Commerce, World Vision, Zetas Amicae, the DeSoto and Marshall County Federation of Democratic Women, the National Civil Rights Museum, the NAACP, the National Police Association, and a contributing supporter of the USO. My home church is St. Luke COGIC in Olive Branch, Mississippi.
I am running for Mississippi State Senate in District 19 in 2027 because Mississippi deserves leadership that puts working families first.
I believe we must:
-
Properly fund our public schools
-
Expand access to affordable healthcare and Medicaid coverage
-
Protect our environment and communities from harmful industrial expansion
-
Raise wages so working families can thrive
-
Support unions and workers’ rights
-
Pass common-sense gun safety laws to make our streets, neighborhoods, and schools safer
My opponent voted against Medicaid expansion, helping send nearly $2 billion in federal Medicaid funding back to Washington instead of helping over 200,000 uninsured Mississippians receive healthcare coverage.
Mississippi needs leadership that will fight for ALL people — not just the powerful and well-connected.
I am asking for your support today.
Every contribution matters. Please donate $25, $50, or whatever you can to help us flip this State Senate seat BLUE and bring real leadership to District 19.
Together, we can build a stronger, healthier, and safer Mississippi for future generations.
Dianne D. Black
Candidate for Mississippi State Senate, District 19
